Market return is used as the benchmark for a given strategy. It is calculated by entering the maximum allowable position (based on starting capital) at the beginning of the backtest period and holding until the end.

For example, if a bot is given 1 BTC as starting capital and the backtest is performed for a 1 year period for the ETH/BTC pair, the market return would be the return on simply buying and holding 1 BTC worth of ETH for 1 year.
